A Sneak Peek into the World of Cessna Citation Private Jets

Cessna Citation, founded by Clyde Cessna and Victor Roos in 1927, is a revered name in the world of private aircraft and aviation consulting. Although the company is known for small, piston-engineered aircraft, some of the recent additions to it’s line of business jets has positioned it among segment leaders. The company, today, offers an array of options, including single and twin-engined VLJs (Very Light Jets), midsize jets, and twin-engine long-range midsize jets. All in all, no matter the prerequisites, the Cessna Citation family of jets is sure to have something for you. Although the professionals at Leviate Air – a trusted aviation consultancy – can provide detailed information on the available options, before you speak to us, let’s start with a sneak peek into the world of Cessna private jets.

Citation X

Citation XCruising the Citation X is like exploring a new world of speed, as it is one of the world’s fastest private jets, behind its successor and reigning champion, the Citation X+. The jet can take you to almost any Domestic or Transatlantic destination faster than any other private jet, barring the X+. The first Cessna Aircraft with Rolls-Royce engines, Citation X comes with a low lift-to-drag ratio, which means better fuel economy than most of the other private jets in the segment. Simply put, if you are looking for perfect combination of luxury and speed, the Citation X is an ideal package.

Citation CJ2

When the team at Cessna Citation got down to design an aircraft for people who prefer flying their private jets, the result was CJ2 – a single pilot rated jet equipped with several automated systems and simple avionics. One of the most advanced yet economical long-range private business jets, the CJ2 can travel 30 knots (cruise speed) faster than the CJ1. Improved wing design and a higher lift-to-drag ratio enable it to offer a better fuel economy compared to its predecessor. Part of this credit, however, also goes to its  two Williams/Rolls-Royce FJ44-2C turbofan engines.

Citation Mustang

The Citation Mustang is an excellent VLJ package, engineered for single-pilot operation. Although the Citation Mustang is similar in configuration to Adam A700 and Eclipse 500, it is much quicker than these jets, with a cruise speed of approximately 390 mph. Despite the fact that the Citation M2 – Cessna’s newest offering in this segment – is already on the market, the first generation Citation Mustang is still a favorite among many private jet enthusiasts, as it continues to be one of the most economical and reliable jets money can buy.

Citation XLS

Citation XLSIf you are looking for an alternative to the mid-size private jets such as the Hawker 750 or the Learjet 60XR, the Citation XLS is the right option. The jet is much more spacious (try 18.7 feet in-cabin length) compared to competitors such as Learjet 60XR, and can also maintain a higher cruise speed of approximately 507 mph. Evolved from the Cessna Excel, the XLS has a maximum flying range of 1,961 miles, which makes it an ideal choice if you wish to cover long distances without refueling.
